Home decor showroom in the former bank lobby.
Recently, Mason Becker, Executive Director - RDA, visited with Dan and Maggie Wegner, Co-Owners - White Oak Builders. In 2019, the Wegners purchased the building located at 14 E. Main Street. They have been carefully renovating the circa 1915 bank building, restoring it back to “as original as they can” while updating the mechanicals, the electrical, and HVAC.
Most noticeable from the outside, is the restoration of the four large windows facing First Street which had been covered up with siding and drywall. As well, they moved the main door back to its original location. “Restoring the columns flanking the door is a work in progress,” said Dan. When finished, the pillars will be painted to match the rest of the bricks which are painted to look like granite.
"Watertown is doing a really great job. The RDA, the Mainstreet Program, everyone has been amazing. They are a great support and definitely a help when we need it," said Maggie.
In 2022, White Oak was presented the "Best Interior Renovation Over $50,000" by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. at the 32nd Wisconsin Main Street Awards ceremony.
